Tufted rocking chair is the symbol of comfortable furniture. They also add some charm to a living space. Reupholstering is an affordable way to repair a rocking chair with damaged padding or customize a rocking chair to better match a particular design scheme.
Unscrew the screws that hold the pads from the back and seat of the tufted rocking chair design using a screwdriver. When removing the screws, the cushions should be completely separate from the frame. Save the screws so that you can put the pillows back on later. Take this time to check the chair frame of wear. Re-stain sand or paint as needed and allow drying before replacing the cushions. Change clothing foam or cotton wad, if necessary. Spray a layer of splash glue on the pillow. Put a 2-inch piece of cloth foam over the pillow as needed. Cut the foam size with a knife. Apply a layer of prelim to the top of the foam to keep cotton wool in place. Stretch cotton batten over the pillow and then wrap it directly in the back of the pillow. Cut away unnecessarily.
Drape a piece of thin fabric over the seat pad to create a template tufted rocking chair. This step is only necessary if you could not maintain the original pieces of fabric in the first step. Determine the muslin over the top of the pillow and trace the mold. Add an inch around. Place the muslin template over the new furniture fabric and track with a pen. Needle in place with several straight studs while tracking keep the pattern from slipping. This is especially important if you use a fabric with a repeated fabric. Cut out the pattern parts.
Place the new fabric over the pillow and fasten it on the back of the pillow. Tighten the fabric tightly along the underside of the pad that you staple. Leave about a quarter of an inch of extra material along the staple line to answer. Cut out excess material. Replace the pillow on the chair by screwing the screws back into the rocking chair frame. Tufted rocking chair is comfortable seats, especially for mothers who have young children. This is a great place to sit in the middle of the night to calm the little sleep. Because of all this sitting and swinging, sometimes the seat gets a bit worn. Keeping your favorite rocking chair and the only reupholster seat gives you many more years of rocking comfort.
